Great post about how to open excel files in a new application instance. This is the easiest and most complete way I have seen to set things up so that you can have to excel workbooks on two monitors if you have a dual monitor setup. HUGE!
A few things to keep in mind:
- Be sure to create a new shell action (instead of editing an existing one) as recommended in this post in case you want to revert back
- Make the new action you create default if you want to open in “split screenable mode” every time
- Be sure to edit the file types for all the common extensions you use (I did CSV, XLS and XLSX)
